Labenne Ocean

I have just booked this chalet for my fourth time in six years because we love the area: the beach is great and the accommodation is brill. There are four of us and the bedroom space is ideal – although one year we took an extra person and were a bit cramped – the bathroom/loo proved to be a bit of a bottleneck.
We especially love the patio and garden which is small but very pretty, and totally private with a hedge all around. Some days I have sunbathed there for most of the day whilst the others were out biking and then we stayed outside on the patio for cheese and wine (or take-away pizza) long into the night – it’s a great way to de-stress.
We usually drive from Caen which is a long treck but easy enough with two drivers. This year we are flying to Biarritz and hiring a car – the cost (with petrol, wear and tear, and toll charges) is not very different.
We have had three delightful holidays in Labenne and there have been totally new things to do and places to visit each time. It is snowing as I write this and I cannot wait to be back.

A charming compact Chalet, in a small complex, within walking distance of the beach. Good terrice on which to take meals and barbeque. Garden is a sun trap. Master bedroom has plenty of space as has the mezzanine area with twin beds. There is also a room with twin bunk beds however there is no room for any luggage in this room. The chalet can sleep 6 at a pinch but is comfortable with 4.
Great cycle rides though woods to local towns, villages and other beaches on the coast. Local main roads do get congested especially during the summer.
The local people are amongst the friendliest you will find.
A lively resort with local activity parks and restaraunts within a stones throw of the chalet. The local town of Cap Breton is charming with 2 large supermarkets.
The beaches are sandy but the Atlantic surf is strong and suitable for experienced surfers. Keep a close watch on children in the water and only swim between the flags.
Would I return? Definetley

House ideally located for young active family (17,14,11), nicely out of the busy town and just a quick hop to the fantastic beach, great surf and endless walks.
We had a memorable holiday and look forward to returning there again sometime in the near future.
