The area offers many amenities and the local beach is sandy and near enough to the house that it is a matter of only a few minutes to return home for lunch, an extra snack or even to collect a new book. Bathing is supervised by lifeguards and sea conditions are usually "green or amber/safe" throughout the summer. There is serious surfing at Labenne when conditions are right, as well as skim-boarding, beach sports and swimming in the breakers.

In season there are a dozen or more bars, bistros, cafes and restaurants within walking distance, serving all kinds of foods from simple pizzas (including takeaway) to 3-course meals - sea food and duck being popular regional specialities. For the most part, tables are set outdoors on terraces/patios whilst some use retractable awnings (for shade or showers) and some use indoor dining areas.

There is no shortage of fun/holiday activities to be had in Labenne with clock golf, tennis, horse riding, cycling, trecking, roller blading and river canoeing to name but a few. There is also a Quad Biking area on the road to Capbreton (5km away) - and a lively aquapark and a tree walking exploration area within 500m of the chalet/studio

Closer to Labenne-Ville (the town centre on the N10) there is a 'Parc Animalier' (small animal zoo) and the 'Pinede des Singes' (monkeys outdoors in a pine forested area)

The river Boudigau runs through Labenne and is a haven for small animal and birdlife - the riverside walk is equally enchanting by day or in the evening. It is shared with cyclists (especially the French on Sunday mornings!) and, if you wish to go into competition with them, bikes may be hired locally.

Evening amenities include spectator sports (the local Course Landaise is exciting) as well as beach BBQ’s and discos for the young at heart.
